CREATIVE GWYNEDD AT THE NATIONAL EISTEDDFOD

THE ARTS INFORMATION STALL

Meirion and District National Eisteddfod ’09 (1-8 August)

he Gwynedd Arts Forum will have a stall at the Mantell Gwynedd stand at this years National Eisteddfod show ground which will act as an information stall for the Gwynedd arts sector. Artists, arts centres and arts organisations are invited to display pamphlets and promotional material at the stall. This is a fantastic opportunity to promote individual artists work and any arts events or activities which take place in Gwynedd. All publicity material must be either Welsh or bilingual with priority given to the Welsh language in accordance to the National Eisteddfod’s policy. It is required that all material is sent to the attention of the Secretary by Monday 27 July. This is a free service.


COURSE AT TY NEWYDD

WRITING IN HEALTH AND WELLBEING
November 16 - 21

Victoria Field and Graham Hartill

This course is intended as an introduction to the theory and practice of using the literary arts as an integral part of healthcare and wellbeing. Participants will experience the different ways writing can be used with patients, clients and in educational or community settings. This course will be of interest to writers and poets, medical and healthcare professionals, counsellors, therapists, social workers, librarians, academics, teachers, service users and service providers in a variety of therapeutic environments – and anyone with an interest in any of these fields.

For anyone using literature therapeutically or working towards accreditation, certificates of attendance for CPD purposes can be provided.

Victoria Field works as writer and a poetry therapist in a variety of health, education and community settings. She is a former director of Survivors Poetry and had two periods chairing Lapidus, the UK ’s organisation for reading and writing for health and well-being. She has co-edited two books on therapeutic writing Writing Works and Prompted to Write, published two collections of poetry, and Hall for Cornwall have produced two of her plays.

Graham Hartill has worked in settings as varied as hospitals, prisons and mental health centres. His selected poems, Cennau’s Bell was published in 2005 and his latest book A Winged Head by Parthian Books in 2006.

Course Details

Participants are asked to arrive between 4.30 p.m. and 6.00 p.m. in time for the evening meal at 7.00 p.m. on the Monday evening and to leave by 10am on the Saturday morning.

Course participants help themselves to breakfast and lunch and help to prepare one evening meal as part of a team. Vegetarians and people with special dietary needs are catered for - please let us know in advance (see booking form).

Tŷ Newydd has some laptops for use by course participants and there is free internet access.

Bursaries

It is our aim to enable everybody who would benefit from a course at Tŷ Newydd to do so and a bursary fund has been set up to help those on a low income.

*Bursary money is always limited and financial help cannot always be guaranteed.

*Gwynedd Council is offering a full bursary to a Welsh speaker who lives in Gwynedd, closing date 28 September '09.
